Tye Tribbett has had a legendary career and his saga has stayed on that trajectory these past two years culminating most recently having earned the 2024 Best Gospel Album GRAMMY Award for his release of All Things New: Live In Orlando. This momentous news marked the second time he has won the award and brings his career total wins to three. He is globally known for his charismatic, dynamic personality, and range – from delivering high-energy praise songs to intimate worship moments and even African rhythms to trap beats. His music cannot be classified as just one genre, but his unique, abstract way encompasses all, which has helped him garner many awards and accolades, including now three GRAMMY® wins (and now thirteen GRAMMY® nominations), six #1 albums, four #1 digital tracks, five #1 radio singles, and eleven Billboard Top 10 songs.
In his career, he’s had over 317 million global streams with over 1.3 million albums sold. On YouTube, he has eclipsed 60 million views. And he’s rocked national TV performances such as The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The BET Awards, and the STELLAR Awards. He’s currently one of the most inspirational voices online. His 1.8 million social media followers often go to him for a positive voice during rough times. For instance, one of his posts about self-worth went viral with everyone from Justin Bieber, Rev Run, Diddy, and Nicki Minaj reposting.
A Multiple GRAMMY® winning artist, Tye released his 8th album last July on Motown Gospel. The album, All Things New, delivered more of the unparalleled blend of gospel, hip-hop, and worship music for which he first became known. Led by #1 radio singles “We Gon’ Be Alright” and “Anyhow,” All Things New, which features guest appearances by PJ Morton, Mali Music, and Kierra Sheard is the must-hear musical evolution of one of Gospel music’s most iconic artists. “Anyhow” was released on November 6, 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The song is a raw proclamation that encourages people to persevere, no matter how challenging the circumstance. Most recently Tye Tribbett released the visual to “Walk By Faith” featuring PJ Morton. Tye Tribbett’s video premiered on BET Gospel as well as the Paramount Times Square Billboard. On March 3, 2023, Tribbett released All Things New: Live In Orlando, solidifying why he is one of Gospel’sgreatest entertainers. Featuring hits like “Same God”, “He Turned It” and “We Gon Be Alright”, there is no question that this live album is every Gospel fan’s dream. All Things New: Live In Orlando is a project that encompasses the creativity, entertainment, and years of labor all in one moment - captured for all to experience. All Things New: Live In Orlando is this year’s must-hear album. This live album freshly follows Tribbett’s announcement of the “All Things New Tour,” titled after his #1 chart-topping 2022 album “All Things New.” The tour was the culmination of a milestone-marking year for the Gospel legend and icon. Earlier last year, it was announced that Tye Tribbett earned two nominations for the 65th Annual GRAMMY® Awards in the following categories: Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Performance/Song. This marked Tribbett’s twelfth career nomination.
With all this success, it is easy to gloss over the hard yet wonderfully fulfilling journey. In 1996, what started as a group of friends and siblings trying out a couple of songs became Tyrone Tribbett & Greater Anointing (G.A.). In that same year Greater Anointing won the McDonald's Gospel Choir Competition. In 1997 they won the regional and national awards of the Wrigley's Gospel Choir Competition. In 1998, Tye got the attention of GRAMMY® Award-winning producers, Buster and Shavoni, who were producing the soundtrack to the DreamWorks animated film The Prince of Egypt. Tye and his group performed "Let Go, Let God" with American Music Award-winning duo Mary Mary. It was the movie soundtrack that catapulted Tribbett beyond gospel and into the mainstream music industry. Between the years of 1999 and 2005, Tye Tribbett and G.A. made their mark in the music industry, performing with Jill Scott, India Arie, John Mellencamp, Musiq Soulchild, and The Roots.
In 2009, after releasing four albums, Tribbett parted with GA. With a new look, new music, and new style, Tye released his first solo album (fourth overall) Fresh (Columbia Records) and debuted at No.1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. In 2013, Tye released his sophomore solo effort, fifth overall and third consecutive career Billboard No.1 album, the critically acclaimed Greater Than (Motown Gospel). It would be his best-selling album, career to date, and spawned the #1 hit "If He Did It Before...Same God,” his first on the Gospel Digital Song Sales chart. The song earned Tribbett a win at The Soul Train Music Awards in 2013 for Best Gospel/Inspirational Performance. In 2014, he won two GRAMMY® awards for Best Gospel Album (Greater Than) and Best Gospel Song ("If He Did It Before...Same God").
